Hand-made OpenFaaS coasters (set of four)

Crafted by the OpenFaaS founder

Who else can claim that they own a hand-made set of drinks coasters created by the founder of OpenFaaS? Well, this is a limited batch so just yourself and a few of our friends from the online community.

Each coaster is:

• High quality birch plywood
• Branded with a traditional heated iron using a blowtorch
• Sustainable FSC-certified wood
• Given an attractive bevel around the top side
• Waterproof varnish for durability

How I make them

It starts by selecting the highest quality birch plywood from a sustainable force. Then each piece is cut into 9x9cm squares on the bandsaw. After that, I use a homemade router table to ease over the top edges and create an attractive bevel. Then on a sunny and still day, I fire up the gas and heat up the branding iron and stamp each of them. Finally, they get smoothed over with sand paper and then a number of layers of protective varnish.

Just good old branding irons and lots of heat.

Burn them with fire

You'll get a full set with anti-scratch pads and a protective varnish finish.

My keyboard palm rests only ship to the UK and Europe, but because plywood is an engineered wood, it can be sent to other destinations.
